Jubilee Pavilion - A Brief History |

On Wednesday 12th January 1977 a meeting between villagers and councillors took place in the main hall of the Council School, to discuss the celebrating of the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. |

It was decided a Pavilion with toilets be erected. £5,000 pounds needed to be raised. Fundraising events were held, such as a tug of war, barrel race and a sponsored walk, twenty times round the park by school children which raised the sum of £1,500. |

The Pavilion was completed by the voluntary work of village people and skilled tradesmen. |

The Jubilee Pavilion was opened by Mr A. D Bateman a former resident and a member of the Bairstow Family in May 1978. |

Two children from each of the primary schools assisted in cutting the tape at the ceremony. |
|

The cost to the Parish Council was £6,000, the pavilion was handed over to them for maintenance at the ceremony. |

In 2002 an extension was built this was to provide a larger clubroom with an appropriately sized kitchen and office to serve the needs of the wider community, also an ambulant disabled toilet added. |

In order to make full use of this facility, in 2004 the Jubilee Pavilion was opened as a Tea Room by the Parish Council. This was to provide a service for the whole community and over the years the Tea Room as proven to be more and more popular. |
